My objective for this website is
to provide a place for prospective employers to come to learn more about
myself and my job qualifications. As I pursue my career further I would like
to convert this web site into an interactive learning environment for my
students. In its completion there will be links for students to
investigate material from class, as well as communication tools for
parents and community members. I am a strong advocate for integrating
technology into the classroom and I hope to demonstrate this via my
website.
I graduated cum laude from West Chester
University’s accredited elementary education program. I have
accumulated significant teaching experience at the elementary and middle
school level in both suburban and urban school districts.
I
currently work at Columbus Elementary School in the Chester-Upland
School District. I teach seventh grade Pre-Algebra.
Last year
I taught fifth grade in the School District of Haverford Township. That
experience gave me the opportunity to work with a PSSA grade level and
to prepare my students for success in their testing. In our classroom we
worked with the Chicago University’s Everyday Math Program as well as
Houghton Mifflin’s integrated themes.
Prior to
pursing employment in Haverford, I worked as a kindergarten teacher at
Chester Community Charter School. My classroom consisted of twenty-seven
urban students from challenging backgrounds. I maintained a well managed
community which honored each of their individual student needs. This
environment demanded creativity, flexibility, and most of all patience.
I am confident both of my teaching experiences will prove to be an asset
to your school district.
Previously, I held a position as building substitute at Indian Lane
Elementary School in the Rose Tree Media School District. In this
position I worked daily in a developmental kindergarten class composed
of students diagnosed with Autism, ADHD, ODD, ED, Down’s syndrome and
William’s Syndrome. The challenges of this classroom of atypical
learners were inspiring. Adapting curriculum to meet the needs of many
different types of learners prepared me for both of my kindergarten and
fifth grade teaching experiences.
